We meet once a month for Appetizers & Conversation.
What is this? It’s where we (parents who have children with special needs) get out of the house and meet at a local restaurant and have conversation while eating appetizers. I’ve been offering this event for about 8 months now.
I have to tell you it has been a great event. It offers us parents some down time from daily responsibilities and activities. It can be a regroup for one person, a free meal for another, or both a meal and friendship, but for whatever reason it meets a need. For me, I don’t have to cook dinner on this night and I LOVE the appetizers along with great conversation among friends. I think for those who participate it’s been both the friendship and food. 🙂
Special Needs Parent Support’s focus is the parents. If the parents are well then they can best serve their children. I know first hand it has helped me personally. I want to pass this on to others.
